Meeting with your advisor
Purpose:
Freshmen students, international students, and some groups of transfer students are expected to meet and discuss their plans for the next term with their University Division academic advisor. The goal is to ensure students have the information and tools they need to successfully plan their education and navigate IU.
Impact:
No enrollment is allowed in the next term until the hold is released.
Release Procedure:
Discuss your plans for the upcoming term(s) in a scheduled appointment with your University Division (or UD-affiliated) academic advisor. If you are pursing a restricted admission major (any major there requires a cumulative or in-major GPA above 2.0), then you are also encouraged to declare an alternative major.
If you are a newly admitted student, we will schedule your first advising appointment for you as a part of New Student Orientation and will release your hold at that time.
