Some schools and majors require a formal application while others use automatic certification. Once the intended school determines you have met all requirements for admission, you will be assigned a new advisor within your major program.
Complete 26 credit hours of coursework that can count toward a degree in the College
Maintain a minimum cumulative College GPA of 2.0
Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in the intended major (or 0.0 if no major courses have been taken)
If you have declared a major in the School of Art, Architecture, and Design and if you meet the requirements above, then you will be automatically certified into the College and sent a notification when that happens.
If you have declared a major in the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies and if you meet the requirements above, then you will be automatically certified into the College and sent a notification when that happens.
Due to the way the audition process works, the process of applying to the Jacobs School is very different from other schools at IUB. For information on the process of transferring into the Jacobs School from a different program at IUB, please check out their admissions page
Completion of a minimum of 30 hours of college coursework. For most students, this will require two semesters on the IUB campus.Kelley includes the credits from any college-level course work on your transcript.
Completion of at least 12-13.5 credit hours from the following courses on the IUB campus:
One of the following options: BUS-K 201 or BUS-K 303
One of the following options: ENG-W 131*, BUS-C 104, BUS-C 204, BUS-L 201, or BUS-G202 AND BUS-D270
Two of the following options: BUS-A 201, BUS-A 202, ECON-E 201, ECON-E 202, MATH-M 118*, MATH-M 119*, ECON-E 370*, or BUS-A 100 and BUS-G 202
*Equivalent courses for these classes exist on the IUB campus. See your advisor for more information.
To be automatically admitted to the Kelley School through standard admission, you must:
Complete 12-13.5 credit hours (4-5 courses) of Kelley admission courses on the IUB campus (see above)
Have 30 credit hours of college coursework on the transcript by the end of the semester in which you apply
Earn grades of A's and B's, with no Withdrawals (W's), in all courses (a grade of B- does not meet this requirement)
Achieve a 3.5 cumulative IU GPA by the end of the semester in which you apply (GPAs will not be rounded up)
If your application does not meet automatic admission criteria, the admissions committee will review all other materials provided in your application, including but not limited to: extracurricular activities, community service, and any work experience. Academic performance will weigh most heavily in the decision.
The Kelley Admissions Committee reviews grades in all courses, not just business courses. Graded courses that are taken pass/fail weaken an applicant's application; the committee will consider any graded course that is taken pass/fail as a grade of B- or lower.
Demonstrate commitment to your course load.Students with no W's in course work have stronger applications.
Complete 30 credit hours of coursework toward a BS in Informatics
Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0
Complete English Composition, and INFO-I 101 with a minimum grade of C
If you have declared an Informatics BS major in Informatics BS and if you meet the requirements above, you will automatically certify into the School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering.
Computer Science BS:
Complete 30 credit hours of coursework toward a BS in Computer Science
Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0
Complete English Composition with a minimum grade of C
If you have declared a major in Computer Science BS major and if you meet the requirements above, you will automatically certify into the School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering.
Intelligent Systems Engineering BS:
Complete 30 credit hours of coursework
Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Complete both MATH-M211 and ENGR-E101 with a C or better
If you have declared an Intelligent Systems Engineering BS major and If you meet the requirements above, you will automatically certify into the School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering.
The O'Neill School requires that students apply for admission. Meeting admission eligibility does not guarantee admission. The O'Neill School will assess each application individually through a holistic review of a student's academic performance.
Complete EDUC-G 203: (Communication for Youth Serving Professionals) with a grade of C or better. (Under certain circumstances, students may substitute another college public speaking or interpersonal communication class.)
If you have declared a major in the School of Education and if you meet the requirements above, then you will be automatically certified into the School of Education and sent a notification when that happens.
The School of Nursing is very competitive, and therefore has more requirements than many other programs. For more information, please check out their admissions requirements page.

Regular admission to the university
Completion of a minimum of 12 credit hours; although early application is encouraged, advanced students may also apply
Satisfactory completion (grade of C or higher) of the required course SWK-S 141: Introduction to Social Work
A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
Evidence of characteristics or potential required of competent social work practitioners as defined in the mission statement of the School of Social Work. Such evidence may be derived from application materials, letters of reference, pertinent work or volunteer experience, and performance in SWK-S 141 Introduction to Social Work.

Changing Your Major
Have you decided to change your intended major? First verify that your major is listed correctly. Log in to one.iu.edu. Go to your Student Center and click on "My Academics." You will find your major listed in the blue "My Program" box on the right side of the page.
If your major needs updating, email your assigned advisor or make an appointment to discuss your new plan. If you can't reach your advisor, email firstname.lastname@example.org and the advisor on duty can make the change for you.
